Things People Often Ask

Do I need any background in finance to join? +

No. The First Steps course is designed for adults with no prior knowledge. We explain every term in plain English and include a full glossary. The intermediate and comprehensive programmes build on that foundation, but we keep the language accessible throughout.

What does the weekly structure look like? +

Each week includes a set of reading exercises you complete at your own pace — typically two to three hours of material. The optional reflection call happens once per week and lasts around an hour. You are welcome to listen without speaking. The calls are recorded and made available to participants.

Is this financial advice? +

No. Lion Rock Study provides financial education, not regulated financial advice. The courses help you build the knowledge and thinking tools to make your own decisions. We do not recommend specific securities, funds, or portfolios, and we do not manage money on behalf of participants.

Can I take the courses if I am not in Hong Kong? +

The reading material is accessible to anyone worldwide. The tax-related module in the Full Track programme is specifically written for Hong Kong residents, though participants from other locations may still find it useful for comparison purposes. Reflection calls are held over video at times that work across Asian time zones.

What is the payment process? +

After you send an enquiry, we will respond within two working days to confirm availability and answer any questions. Payment is made in Hong Kong dollars by bank transfer or FPS before the course begins. We will send full instructions in our confirmation email.

How many people are in each group? +

We keep all groups small — between six and twelve participants — so that reflection calls remain genuinely conversational. Enrolment closes once a cohort reaches its limit. If places are not available in the current intake, we will add you to the waiting list for the next one.
